It’s a sunny, Sunday morning.
Paul and I spend our time
pottering around the garden
together.
Paul cuts the grass
and tidies up the garden
while I do wee bits and pieces
to help –
moving the lawn mower lead,
emptying the grass box,
clearing up
after one neighbour’s cat
and playing
with another neighbour’s dog.
Sun, bird song
and bright, pink cherry blossom –
so simple,
so perfect!
And as I stand in the garden
I cherish this time together,
this day
that I have been blessed with
and I remember friends
who died recently.
Lord,
please bless my friends,
young and old,
who have died this year
and never got to enjoy
this beautiful Sunday morning.
May they all rest in peace.
